Plan a Visit
Getting to know each other
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating and going to a new church for the first time can be a little scary, confusing, and even nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at Tabernacle a great one! We invite you to have an online tour of our church first on this website and on our Facebook page. We hope once you’ve seen us online, you’ll be excited to visit us in person.
Service Times
Tabernacle meets every Sunday at 831 Poquoson Avenue in Poquoson, VA.
We have three worship services for you to choose from:
Informal Service at 8:30 AM in the sanctuary
Traditional Service at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary
Side Door Contemporary Service at 10:30 AM in the fellowship hall
Come As You Are
At Tabernacle, there is no dress code! Some people show up in suits, and others wear jeans and t-shirts. We want you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable! God is interested in your heart more than in what you are wearing.
Parking
As a first-time guest, you are a VIP to us. We have reserved “first-time visitor” parking spaces in the font parking lot, on the right side of the sanctuary, as you approach from Poquoson Ave. Should those be full, we have lots of parking in our additional parking lots on the left side and the rear of the building.
Bring the Kids
We believe that kids should have a fun and enriching experience at church the same as you. Our service has a “Children’s Time” when all children are invited to hear a special message just for them. For your convenience, we also have a nursery for your youngest children from birth through 4 years old.
What can I expect in worship?
In total, Tabernacle church services are about 60 minutes in length. Our services typically include music and scripture readings. In the latter half of the service, our pastor will share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus. We also collect an offering, but you should not feel obligated to participate until you wish to do so. We also offer communion on a regular schedule and everyone is invited to join in communion, but you may simply remain seated if you do not want to take communion.
Will you ask me to stand up in front of the church since I am a visitor?
Our desire is for you to feel welcome, not to be singled out. Thus, we do not ask visitors to stand and be recognized. Each service does normally include an opportunity for people in the worship service to greet each other.
Can I attend if I’m __________?
Fill in the blank with whatever fear you have about not being accepted: divorced, single parent, broke, homeless, recovering addict, atheist, skeptic, etc. The answer is always YES! Everyone is welcome at Tabernacle!
We can’t wait to meet you this Sunday!
